Kevin Schwantz Suzuki Finds New Home
Source: Insidebikes | Carole Nash » Bike News - Tuesday, 16th March 2010, 12:03 GMTA Suzuki GSX-R1000 built especially for grand prix legend Kevin Schwantz has found a new home at Palmers Motorbikes, Hemel Hempstead. Palmers Motorbikes Director Danny Palmer collected the bike from Suzuki GB Headquarters after emerging as the winning bidder at the glittering 2009 BEN Ball. The bike was kindly donated to BEN by Suzuki and raised £9,500 for the charity on the night. BEN is the UK’s only occupational charity for those who work or have worked in the automotive and related industries and their families, providing practical help, support, advice and friendship to more than 15,000 men, women and children every year “We would like to extend our appreciation to Danny for bidding on Kevin Schwantz’s amazing bike. I’m certain it will become a real talking point in his showroom,” said BEN’s Director of Fundraising and Communications, Charles David. “This beautiful machine was generously donated by Suzuki, who have been ardent supporters of BEN for many years. Their support of BEN is invaluable and has helped us to reach out to thousands of our colleagues in the industry in times of hardship and distress.” Suzuki GB Sales and Marketing Director and BEN Trustee David Taylor added; “Naturally we are delighted to support BEN and equally pleased that the donation of this special GSX-R has achieved additional funding for the charity. With all charities under pressure from recession induced drops in giving, I hope the motorcycle industry can dig deep this coming year too.” Read article

Suzuki GB sales and marketing director, David Taylor commented, “With such an exclusive model, a web reservation process was the only fair way for interested customers to get a chance of securing this bike. While the initial process is completed online, successful applicants will be subsequently contacted by Suzuki GB PLC, with eventual delivery taking place via their nominated dealer.” With the GSX-R750 the first in a series of exclusive models to be released in 2010 to celebrate the 25th anniversary, interested customers are urged to visit www.imgsx-r.com, where full details of the reservation process for this and future models will be announced, as well as all other anniversary news throughout the year.
