Josh Brookes Race 1 Tommy Hill claimed his first win in four months at this weekends round of the British Superbike championship at Cadwell Park for the Worx Crescent Suzuki team. It was the HM Plant Honda rider Josh Brookes that led the riders into the first corner with Tommy Hill right on his tail.  By lap 8, Hill had made his way past the Australian and held on for the win leaving a trailing Brookes and his team-mate Ryucihi Kiyonari to claim second and third respectively. Michael Laverty crossed the line for fourth place ahead of Michael Rutter in fifth position and James Ellison in sixth.  Yukio Kagayama finished in seventh place followed by Alastair Seeley in eighth, Dan Linfoot in ninth and Stuart Easton in tenth. Tommy Bridewell had his points disqualified after his collision with John Laverty on the final lap of race one. Here are the results; 1.  Tommy Hill  GBR Worx Crescent Suzuki  26mins 25.609s 2. Brookes took to the front as the race got underway but was passed by Tommy Hill before the end of the first lap followed by Ryuichi Kiyonari in second. It was Brookes skill at ‘the mountain’ that gave him the edge over the leading two riders, giving him the lift he needed to get in front. On lap 11, Brookes passed the leading man and shortly afterwards the red flags were waved ending the race after James Edmeades crashed and needed medical help on circuit for a fractured pelvis. Once again it was Michael Laverty and Michael Rutter in fourth and fifth places respectively ahead of James Ellison in sixth.  Yukio Kagayama finished in seventh place followed by Tommy Bridewell in eighth, Alastair Seeley in ninth and Gary Mason in tenth. Kiyonari will now head into the three round shoot-out on 525 points, Hill is also on 525 points and Brookes is on 524 points. Hill and Brookes share Cadwell spoils

Source: Insidebikes | Carole Nash » BSB - Monday, 30th August 2010, 22:29 GMT

Tommy Hill and Josh Brookes took another step towards the 2010 British Superbike title at Cadwell Park this afternoon, each grasping one win each. As the first of two races got underway, Brookes jumped into the lead ahead of Hill, while Michael Laverty initially settled into third place. During the opening laps Hill stayed close to Brookes, looking for the ideal opportunity to dive passed for the lead. By lap eight the opportunity presented itself, and Hill soon launched into the top spot, leaving Brookes to play the shadowing game. Whilst the top two chased one another around, the battle for third began to hot up, with the position changing a number of times. After dropping to sixth place at the start, Ryuichi Kiyonari fought back through the field, and eventually wrestled third place from Laverty’s grasp. As Hill and Brookes swept passed the chequered flag for the first time, their championship hopes were re-ignited in fine fashion, while Kiyonari made it two HM Plant Honda riders on the podium once again. Hill’s win represented the first win for the Worx Crescent Suzuki team at Cadwell Park since 2004. Michael Laverty held onto fourth place, while Michael Rutter and James Ellison followed him in fifth and sixth. Yukio Kagayama swept through the seventh place, while Alastair Seeley, Dan Linfoot and Stuart Easton completed the top ten. Tommy Bridewell originally finished ninth, however was later excluded from the result after a collision with John Laverty on the final tour. Looking back over his first win since Thruxton, Hill told the official BSB website: “It is nice to be back on the top step again; it has been a long time since Thruxton but that is what we needed and three podium credits is good for me and the team. We regrouped this weekend and worked hard on the settings and it paid off. We have had some ups and downs but now we are back on top and we need to do the same in race two.” In the second outing, Josh Brookes came through to triumph in a race cut short by chaos. After getting the jump on his rivals from the off, Brookes took the lead straight away again, however a move from Hill in the opening stages meant Brookes was forced to run wide, also allowing teammate Kiyonari through into second. With the top three all eager to take the win to enhance their championship charge, the race at the front really began to hot up. After following Kiyonari for a number of laps, Brookes made the move for second, before chasing down leader Hill. It wasn’t too much longer before Brookes had worked his way through into the lead, leaving his chief rivals to play catch up. As they weaved around to complete the second race of the day, a heavy crash from James Edmeades with four laps to go brought out the red flag, crowning Brookes at race two winner, with Hill second and Kiyonari third. Behind, Michael Laverty finished fourth, with Rutter fifth, Ellison sixth and Kagayama seventh. Bridewell finished eighth this time around, while Seeley and Gary Mason completed the top ten. Commenting on his win, Brookes told the official BSB website: “For race two we made the bike stiffer at both ends and the balance was good so I knew we had a good shot. I didn’t get the perfect start and I was behind Kiyo and Tommy, but our pace was much faster than race one and I put a pass on both of them through the Hall Bends section and I knew Tommy would try and have a go back but I thought we had the pace to hold him off and then the red flag came out. It feels good to win again as that was always the goal and now we focus on the Showdown.” It is now very close at the top of the championship standings, with Kiyonari and Hill equal on 525 points, whilst Brookes is breathing down their necks with 524 points with three rounds remaining. Kiyonari and Brookes win amid dramatic action

Source: British Superbikes - BSB Blog - Mirror.co.uk - Friday, 2nd July 2010, 10:36 GMT

Ryuichi Kiyonari finally conquered the Cadwell Park circuit where victory, even in his two title winning years had eluded him with a stylish performance in the opener to the fourth round of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship. The Japanese rider however was denied the opportunity of a winning double when his bike was sidelined on the warm-up lap by a technical problem ahead of the second race which was won by his HM Plant Honda team-mate Josh Brookes. Kiyonari made the perfect start to the first race at the Lincolnshire circuit which hosts the home races for his Louth based team - he charged through from the second row to lead with Tommy Hill in hot pursuit until he crashed heavily at Hall Bends on the fourth lap, by which time Stuart Easton had tipped off his Swan Honda at Charlies. Michael Rutter was running second to Kiyonari with Michael Laverty third while Brookes was riding hard to overcome a dreadful start. Laverty put his Relentless Suzuki into second place on the eighth lap and began to close on Kiyonari. Briefly with a couple of laps remaining Laverty moved ahead, but Kiyonari countered to take his first victory of the season, enthusing: "For me, very special, the team's home track, my home track. I try many times for this. "In earlier years, the team have private tests here for me, help me a lot, but no wins, till this one," he added. "This is the perfect week for me - my baby son Koma was born six days ago, now I win the race for him and my wife Madoka." Laverty took second from RidersMotorcycles.com Ducati rider Rutter with Tommy Bridewell fourth on the Quay Garage Honda from Brookes who was eager to make amends for that next time out. The Aussie ran second to Laverty on the opening lap, but then charged into the lead with a breathtaking move at Hall Bends and then controlled the race from the front, taking his second victory of the season. Hill, running fourth in the early stages, was soon upping the tempo and hounding first Rutter and then Laverty, moving into second place on lap 14, but next time around the action was red-flagged because of Dan Linfoot's tumble going up the Mountain. "I wanted to get out front, it is such a good feeling to there and to be pulling a gap," explained Brookes. "I made a good start, made some passes while the tyres were fresh and kept it smooth. If I'm not on the top step of the podium I get a bit annoyed, but that is the racer in me." Brookes took the victory which closes him within 36 points of Hill in the standings but Easton lost ground in the title chase as he trailed in a distant tenth place. Relentless Suzuki rider Laverty completed a solid day with third place ahead of Rutter while John Laverty took fifth for Buildbase Kawasaki ahead of Bridewell. Steve Brogan riding the Jentin BMW completed a daily double in the Mirror.co.uk BSB-EVO class to move within ten points of MAR Kawasaki rider Hudson Kennaugh who took second and third places, in the latter finishing adrift of Alex Lowes who was deputising on the Redline KTM for their injured James Edmeades. Ryuichi Kiyonari Wins The Double At Mallory Park

Source: British Superbike News - Tuesday, 29th June 2010, 10:22 GMT

Ryuichi Kiyonari - HM Plant Honda 2010 Ryuichi Kiyonari took the victory in both races this weekend at the Mallory Park round of the British Superbike Championship. Race One The HM Plant Honda rider Ryuichi Kiyonari qualified in pole position for the first race of the day but dropped back to third as the pack headed into the first corner. Michael Laverty took to the lead from the start followed by Michael Rutter, Kiyonari and Chris Walker in fourth, however, the following lap saw the red flag waved following an accident between Martin Jessopp and Dan Linfoot.  Jessopp appeared to make contact with Yamaha of Linfoot and managed to get his leg caught up in the Motorpoint machine.  After being taken to the track-side medical centre, Jessopp is believed to have suffered a suspected fracture to his leg. As the race restarted, Laverty once again took to the front of the pack followed by Josh Brookes, Rutter and Kiyonari. The Japanese rider soon passed Rutter while Brookes made his move stick on the race leader, with Kiyonari following two laps later. Kiyonari finally got past his team-mate on lap 12 where he remained until the chequered flag was waved followed by Brookes for a Honda 1-2.  Laverty claimed third place ahead of Rutter in fourth, Stuart Easton in fifth, Chris Walker in sixth, Simon Andrews seventh, John Laverty eighth, Andrew Pitt ninth and Alastair Seeley in tenth. Both Worx Crescent Suzuki riders failed to finish the race after Tommy Hill suffered technical issues on his machine and Yukio Kagayama had a huge high-side.  Karl Harris was another non-finisher after failing to complete a single lap on his East Coast Yamaha. Hutchinson fastest qualifier at the TT 2010

Source: Latest News Articles from ACU.org.uk - Saturday, 5th June 2010, 8:56 GMT

FOR the third evening in a row conditions all around the Isle of Man were perfect which meant that it was another ideal night of practice for the 2010 TT races fuelled by Monster Energy, the final session before Saturday’s opening race day. It was the last chance for competitors to make further adjustments to their machinery in preparation for the 6-lap Superbike race whilst the sidecars were also out in force, preparing for their first 3-lap race on Saturday afternoon. As happened in Thursday’s qualifying, the sidecars were first out on the course and they were greeted with an information board saying simply ‘dry roads, clear weather’. At 6.30pm, it was John Holden/Andy Winkle who left the line first followed by Klaus Klaffenbock/Dan Sayle, Simon Neary/Paul Knapton, Conrad Harrison/Kerry Williams and Gary Bryan/Gary Partridge. Dave Molyneux/Patrick Farrance set off mid-pack with Tim Reeves/Dipash Chauhan further back although they were later reported as having stopped at Parliament Square where they were making adjustments. This also applied to Keith Walters/Alun Thomas and Brian Alflatt/Herve Chenu who had both pulled in at the Highlander. Klaffenbock and Holden crossed the line almost together, lapping at 113.508mph and 112.55mph respectively with Neary sandwiching the pair on speed at 113.058mph. Harrison was the only other driver above 110mph with speeds generally down on previous evenings as the crews used the session to bed in engines and scrub in tyres prior to the race. Holden improved to 113.24mph second time around, to go third fastest for the week, and was one of only a handful of competitors to complete two laps. The chairs had a slightly shorter session tonight and the solos were underway at 7.20pm, getting a full hour and a half thus meaning four laps, at least, could be completed by the majority of the field. The riders again set off in numerical order so, once again, it was Bruce Anstey who blasted off first, this time alongside Ian Lougher with Ian Hutchinson, Keith Amor, Cameron Donald, Guy Martin, Adrian Archibald, Conor Cummins and Gary Johnson following them. John McGuinness set off in the fifth pairing on his 600, leaving his Superbike in the garage during the session. Anstey was reported stopped at Sulby Bridge before proceeding whilst Guy Martin pulled off the course at Ballacraine (not getting back out again until 8.30pm) and Carl Rennie at Parliament Square but Hutchinson was again flying and his opening lap was 130.234mph, just shy of McGuinness’ lap on Wednesday evening. Cummins lapped at 129.405mph on his Superbike with Amor putting in a fine lap on his BMW Superstock machine at 128.156mph, the bike only 4mph down on Hutchinson’s Superbike through the Sulby speed trap. James Edmeades and the KTM were also having a good evening with their first ever 120mph+ lap, Senior Manx Grand Prix winner Michael Russell also recorded the benchmark average speed for the first time. Hutchinson went even quicker on his second lap at 130.614mph to move to the top of the Superbike qualifying leaderboard and win the Graham watch for the fastest rider of the week whilst Amor did likewise on the Superstock BMW at 128.229mph. Meanwhile, the Dunlop brothers were setting the pace on their 600s, Michael getting close to the class lap record at 126.39mph with older brother William moving in to the top six at 123.621mph, just behind McGuinness at 123.750mph. Meanwhile, Donald was again close to 129mph on his Superbike machine. Dunlop then went quickest in the Superstock class also at 128.324mph, another personal best, whilst Amor switched to the HM Plant Honda Superbike lapping at 128.48mph with Hutchinson and McGuinness above 125mph, having gone back out on their Superstock machines. Just like Thursday, the majority of speeds dropped off as the session wore on, a combination of traffic out on the course and the dropping temperatures, but Archibald did 129.372mph and Dunlop 128.792mph, both on their Superbikes and both personal best laps ever. Martin eventually got back out and did two laps on his Superbike, the best at 128.240mph The newcomers were again in fine form with Stephen Thompson lapping at 117.456mph, Herve Ganther 115.481mph and Hudson Kennaugh getting above 110mph for the first time at 112.976mph. Anthony Czyzewski and Clinton Pienaar also posted their best laps of the week in excess of 112mph. In the 600cc division, David Johnson recorded 115.552mph, Dan Cooper improved to 114.481mph with David Jones and Brandon Cretu not too far behind at 111.931mph and 111.128mph. Gary May also posted his first 110mph+ lap Read article

Source: British Superbike News - Wednesday, 7th April 2010, 10:35 GMT

Tommy Hill - Brands Hatch 2010 This weekend saw the opening round of the British Superbikes Championship for 2010 at Brands Hatch in two thrilling races. Tommy Hill on the Worx Suzuki claimed the top step of the podium in the first BSB race of the day after passing Ryuichi Kiyonari on the HM Plant Honda.  Kiyonari had dominated the majority of the race on his return to the series but Hill stormed pass, eight laps from the finish after a mistake from the Honda rider. Stuart Easton on the Swan Honda machine moved into third place at the start of the race after qualifying in eighth followed by Tommy Bridewell on the Quay Garage Honda in fourth and Josh Brookes in fifth on the second HM Plant Honda.   Bridewell crashed out on lap 14 of the race after losing the front end at the Graham Hill bend. As Hill and Kiyonari battled for the top step of the podium the scrap for the final step was going on behind between Easton, Brookes, Alastair Seeley for Relentless Suzuki and Ellison. Ellison took third position ahead of Seeley and Brookes with Easton finishing in sixth. Michael Laverty was forced to retire from the race after suffering a technical problem on his Relentless Suzuki on lap 12.  Simon Andrews ran off track on the MSS Colchester Kawasaki at Paddock Hill bend ending his race along with Christian Iddon on the Sorrymate.com SMT Honda who crashed out at Druids on the 19th lap.
