Maxxis for July and Foxhills Awaits

Source: Latest News Articles from ACU.org.uk - Sunday, 4th July 2010, 18:59 GMT

Whilst some may choose some National races to keep sharp, others will just keep light training ahead of the Foxhill event in an attempt to defeat the dreaded body burn out in a season which stretches from the end of February to October. It is a known fact that riders who peak too early in a season find it difficult to maintain body and mental fitness for the whole year. No less than seven of our registered riders currently hold top twenty positions in the MX1 or MX2 world series. In the MX1 catagory, the CAS Honda pairing of Evgeny Bobreshev and Gareth Swanepoel are 8th and 12th respectively in the world standings, whilst Josh Coppins (Aprilia), who has confirmed his entry for the Foxhill event, holds 14th. The twenty two year old Russian, Bobreshev is currently riding high, just missing out on a podium in the GP's of Latvia and Sweden and will want his run of form to continue. In the MX2 class, American hotshot, Zach Osborne (Bike It Cosworth Yamaha) holds 5th in the world, whilst Jake Nicholls (HM Plant Red Bull KTM) is 11th, with MVR-D Suzuki's Latvian rider, Matiss Karro (pictured) in 16th. Osborne's team mate, Mel Pocock, on the second Bike It Cosworth Yamaha now hold 20th after some point scoring rides. The Buildbase CCM MX1 pairing of Stephen Sword and Tom Church, who have missed recent GP's through virus and injury problems may return for the second half of the season, but will definitely feature in the remaining four rounds of the UK championship, which is their main target for the year. All of the above riders will feature at the Foxhill event which takes place on Sunday July 25th. The circuit is easily reached from junction 15 of the M4 motorway. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Read article

Maxxis From Lyng

Source: Latest News Articles from ACU.org.uk - Monday, 14th June 2010, 9:16 GMT

Current championship leaders, Zach Osborne (Bike it Cosworth Yamaha) and Evgeny Bobreshev (CAS Honda) continued their current form and extended their leads as the series reached the halfway stage at Lyng, in Norfolk yesterday. Whilst the Russian took a major step in the MX1 catagory by extending his lead over Stephen Sword (Buildbase CCM) to 33 points, (21 on the day), Osborne scored just one more point than his nearest rival, Jake Nicholls (HM Plant Red Bull KTM), who could easily of been on the top step of the podium, but for a small mistake in the opening moto. It was a good day for the Bike it Cosworth Yamaha team as their second rider, Mel Pocock put in three strong rides scoring 2-3-3 to finish on the lower step of the podium to move into 5th in the championship. Martin Barr (PAR Honda) and Elliot Banks- Browne (DB Racing Honda) both scored well, Banks- Browne with some lightning starts whilst Barr frequently had to fight through the pack. At the podium ceromony, both Osborne and Pocock dedicated their performances to young Bradley Pocock, who broke his leg in the Free Practice session earlier in the day. Although he scored three confidence boosting wins, Bobreshev didn't have things his own way in the MX1 class. His CAS Honda Team partner, Gareth Swanepoel put in by far his strongest ride of the season with 3-2-2 performances to close in on Sword's current second place after the CCM rider had no answer to the speed of the CAS pairing, plus current Champion, Brad Anderson (PAR Honda) on the day. Sword had to settle for a trio of fourth places and was not able to challenge the other three. Anderson looked so determined on the deep sandy track, but apart from the first moto where he fought with Bobreshev for the whole 25 minutes to finish less than a second adrift, he had to settle for an on form Swanepoel taking two second positions away from him in motos two and three. Bobreshev nows leads the class by 33 points from Sword, with Swanny just a further seven points adrift. Current Champion Anderson is now 46 points off the lead and will have a mammoth task on his hands in the remaining four rounds if he is to hold onto his crown. The next round of the series is at the famous Foxhill circuit on July 25th. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- G o Read article

Maxxis British Motocross Reaches Half Way at Lyng

Source: Latest News Articles from ACU.org.uk - Thursday, 3rd June 2010, 10:19 GMT

With just two weeks to go to the next round and three of the eight events completed, we thought this would be a good time to have a look at the points scorers in our domestic championship and put some facts together! Starting with the MXY2 class, who have only had one round so far this year (Mallory Park in March), 24 riders have scored points, but at the sharp end only Bradley Pocock (MGP -Dixon- Cosworth Yamaha and Connor Walkley (Team Green Kawasaki) have been able to put two consistent rides together, with just seven points between them. However, having already raced nine motos, 33 riders have scored points in MX2, with our two top GP riders, Osborne and Nicholls at the top of the standings, we have to go down to 11th place to find Kawasaki's new signing, Bryan MacKenzie, Luke Hawkins (PAR Honda) and a returning from injury Graeme Irwin (HMPlant Red Bull KTM UK) (pictured) all sharing 79 points. More GP stars, Roczen and Tonus come next and their tally may well be raised later in the year if they make a return visit to the UK, whilst down in 27th position, Will Worden ( Wheeldon Suzuki), Sunny Thompson (Samsung Yamaha and Anthony Reville (TRM CAS Honda) have generally scored points in different motos and will continue their battle at Cadders Hill. We find even more scorers in MX1 - 37 in fact, with Russian CAS Honda rider Evgeny Bobreshev beginning to edge away from Buildbase CCM's Stephen Sword. Mickael Pichon's single visit to Mallory Park stands out in 13th position and he may well be back for the Foxhill round in July. Again, further down the field in 29th position we find a three way tie between Joanas Algotsson, Max Nyberg and Jamie Skuse, whilst Dorren Coutts and James Lassau have scored their single points in different motos. A full list of all points scorers can be found at Read article

The MX1 Start list features many GP riders and we can easily pick out fifteen potential podium candidates. Reigning Champion, Brad Anderson will bring an army of his Jordie fans to his local event, whilst world number six, Josh Coppins, previous GP winner, Gert Krestinov and ex 250cc World Champion, Mickael Pichon will sample the circuit for the first time. Add into the mix names like Ray Rowson, James Noble, Carl Nunn, Tom Church, Stephen Sword, Ben LaMay, Alex Snow, Gordon Crockard, current red plate holder, Evgeny Bobreshev, Gareth Swanepoel and Jason Dougan, picking a winner is not easy. The MX2 line up features many GP regulars including Zach Osborne, (pictured) Jake Nicholls, Mel Pocock and Matiss Karro. In his first season on the GP trail, Edward Allingham is now a recognised point scorer, whilst Bryan MacKenzie, Luke Hawkins, Kristian Whatley, Neville Bradshaw and Elliot Banks - Browne will make their life difficult. The airways around the Scottish Borders and the North of England will feature event details on Radio Forthone during the lead up to the big event, which will also feature the FMX UK Freestyle Team doing displays in the adjoining car parking field. Maxxis At Mallory Park, British Motocross Championship 2010

Source: Latest News Articles from ACU.org.uk - Friday, 19th March 2010, 12:40 GMT

A spokesman for ACU Events commented, " Having Pichon with us for the rest of the year and this one off appearance of Roczen and Tonus is fantastic for the championship. Mickael still has a huge fan base and he is not coming to make up the numbers. In the shorter 20 minute plus two laps races (three for each class) we can expect him to be right at the sharp end of the action." The Buildbase CCM team of Stephen Sword and Tom Church, together with the Cosworth Utag Yamaha UK squad of American Zach Osborne and British Teenager, Mel Pocock have withdrawn from other events in recent weeks, specifically to prepare for this major event. They will also be joined by the CAS Honda squad of Russian Evgeny Bobreshev and South African, Gareth Swanepoel, whilst the HM Plant Red Bull team of Jake Nicholls and Graeme Irwin will challenge for the top spot. Current MX1 champion, Jordie Brad Anderson, will also be there with his hard riding style. Timed Training starts at 9.30am, with the first of six championship races at 12.30pm. Race fans can also view some Club Road Racing on the tarmac circuit free of charge and the motocross event has a MXY2 (Youth) support class of two races. The riders will all be available to everyone for an Autograph session at approx 11.35am. Admission prices are pegged at Read article

Get to Little Silver this weekend for Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship action

Source: Latest News Articles from ACU.org.uk - Wednesday, 24th February 2010, 12:26 GMT

THE 2010 Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship jumps into action this Sunday February 28th at the dramatic Little Silver circuit in Devon with a host of exciting new rules and top British and GP riders going for glory. The Little Silver circuit offers all round viewing and is situated within sight of Junction 31 of the M5 Motorway near Exeter. Top GP riders include, Zach Osbourne, Tom Church, Stephen Sword, Mattis Karro, Jake Nicholls, Gareth Swanepoel, Evgeny Bobreshev, Graeme Irwin and Pascal Lauret, who will be supported by all the top UK riders, including defending MX1 Champion Brad Anderson. And the racing will be intense with a Superpole F1/World Superbike style qualifying session sorting the start gate and then three quick-fire 20-minute races for both the MX1 and MX2 classes, giving the crowds plenty to get excited about. The circuit at Little Silver is ready for the action as well, with many of the banners already erected and only the finishing touches to be made. Despite recent rain the hillside track is extremely dry and the fact that it was "sealed" has made it in prime condition. The gritty, sand based circuit will be left sealed until very late in the week. Once the weather forecasters are confident of a dry weekend it will be ripped and harrowed. If a wet weekend is forecast it will be left as hardpack. Clerk of the Course, Si Higgins, commented “The whole team have worked well and we are ahead of schedule. The crowd control barriers for the extra spectator area on the hillside will arrive today (Monday) and we could race on Tuesday, that’s thanks to the help from the team at Little Silver. I am confident of some good racing on Sunday, especially with the quality of the entry in all classes." The first race will commence at 12.15pm, whilst early arrivals can watch the free Practise and Timed Qualifying from 9am at no extra charge. Tickets on the gate cost Read article
