Riders For Health Auctioning Exclusive Paddock Passes For Every MotoGP Race
Source: MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks - ... that the winter is now officially over for racing fans - Thursday, 11th March 2010, 18:01 GMTThe one place that everyone wants to be at a MotoGP race is in the paddock. Simultaneously, it is one of the most difficult places to get into, as, quite simply, Dorna does not sell passes into the paddock. The usual way - other than in a professional capacity, or working as a marshal - is to purchase a VIP package through one of the very few specialist travel companies authorized to issue paddock passes, such as our friends over at Pole Position Travel. But now, MotoGP's (and MotoMatters.com's) official charity organization Riders For Health are providing an extra route into the paddock. Today, the charity announced that they will be auctioning off pairs of paddock passes for each of MotoGP's 18 races this season, with the money raised going towards Riders' outstanding work providing primary health care in Africa. If you want to get into the paddock and have a chance of meeting your own personal hero (be it Valentino Rossi, Bradley Smith or even Jerry Burgess), then read the press release below carefully, and dig deep for Riders. Freddie Spencer’s Championship Bikes For Sale
Source: MotoMatters.com | Kropotkin Thinks - ... that the winter is now officially over for racing fans - Wednesday, 10th March 2010, 12:40 GMTAsk some of the veterans of the MotoGP paddock who the greatest racer of all time was, and you'll get a fairly short list of names, usually including Valentino Rossi, Giacomo Agostini, Kenny Roberts, Eddie Lawson and Kevin Schwantz. But the answer to that question is almost always followed up by the words "And then there's Freddie Spencer, of course..." Spencer's career was cut short by a wrist injury, but before he was forced to retire, the young American shocked the world by being the only man to win both the 500cc and 250cc World Championships in the same year. Fast Freddie was precocious, sensitive and blindingly, mind-bogglingly fast. Since retiring from racing, Spencer's fortunes have been very mixed. The Louisiana native ran a successful riding school and was the motorcycle racing commentator for the US SpeedTV channel, but both of those ventures have gone sour. Spencer's riding school was forced to shut down at the end of 2008, after financial problems saw the instructors go unpaid and the bikes repossessed. Spencer's commentary work also dried up, with Daytona legend Scott Russell taking his place in the commentary booth. read more Read article

Termignoni release exhaust as used by Rossi
Source: Insidebikes | Carole Nash » New Products - Saturday, 6th March 2010, 5:57 GMTTermignoni, the most successful exhaust system of World Superbike and MotoGP, has developed a wide range of systems for the street and is now distributed by Pirelli Moto. The iconic Italian brand, long associated with Ducati exotica, now has exhausts for every type of machine from the popular YZF-R125 through supersport, naked, off-road and even custom machines. The company, which has won four MotoGP championships at the hands of Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner has looked carefully at its supply and pricing structure to make its exhausts more accessible for all riders. Although synonymous with Superbikes having taken 14 WSBK crowns, Termignoni has used their advanced R+D division to maximise the performance of machines from 125cc all the way through to cruiser machines. There are now Termignoni systems and slip on exhausts for brands as diverse as Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, BMW, KTM, Benelli, Buell, Harley-Davidson, Triumph, MV Agusta, Moto-Morini, Beta, Montesa, Sherco and Husqvarna. Termignoni exhausts are created using titanium, carbon fibre and aluminium, utilizing computer design and 3-D laser cutting. Each prototype is skilfully hand-built, while technology follows every step. Each exhaust is designed in Termignoni’s Research & Development department under the direct supervision of Mr. Termignoni himself and carefully fitted to ensure the best components and pure Italian style. Each exhaust is developed for optimum power delivery on a computer-assisted dynamometer. A stamp of approval by Mr. Termignoni sends each prototype into production, where experienced craftsmen then build each system by hand. The final stamping of the Termignoni insignia invokes memories of a logo emblazoned upon the side of some of the most legendary race machines including those of Valentino Rossi! Steffen Baum, UK Product & Consumer Marketing Manager of Pirelli Moto, commented, “For us Termignoni exhausts go hand in hand with Pirelli as they invoke a feeling of Italian passion and also great racing success. However, we go even further as we are pleased to be able to showcase a wide range of exhausts for every type of machine and at competitive prices.” Read article

Custom Rossi R1 up for auction
Source: Insidebikes | Carole Nash » Bike News - Tuesday, 2nd March 2010, 12:03 GMTA special edition Valentino Rossi Yamaha R1 will be going under the hammer in an attempt to raise money for the official MotoGP charity Riders for Health. The bike, displaying Rossi’s world famous “Five Continents” graphics, and customised using thousands of dollars worth of aftermarket parts donated by manufacturers, will be auctioned off in an event organised by 1972 Daytona 200 winner Don Emde on an as yet undetermined date. The project team includes brains from AGV, Drudi Performance, Roland Sands Design and Pole Position Racing and also has the backing of major names including Yamaha USA, K&N, Ohlins, Bridgestone and Goodridge. Riders for Health is a charity aiming to make medical help and supplies accessible to some of the most remote parts of Africa, providing motorcycle transport to doctors and medics to enable them to reach areas that are inaccessible to other forms of transport. “Riders for Health is the official charity of the MotoGP series and I am so appreciative of the support from everyone in the sport that were involved in the project,” Emde told MCN. “We did not want to rush the bike into an auction before we had a chance to give it wide exposure, so the exact auction date and location is not yet set.” A date has not yet been pencilled in for the auction, which will take place online, but Emde is hoping to confirm one soon. “One thing I want to have in place would be the ability for anyone to bid on the machine, via online or some off-site methods,” he added. “That would be something we would announce on the website, www.friendsofriders.org“ Read article
