World Superbike wild-card for Bridewell
Source: WORLDSBK.COM | NEWS - Tuesday, 20th July 2010, 8:03 GMTQuay Garage Honda rider Tommy Bridewell has secured a wild card entry for the Superbike World Championship round to be held at Silverstone on August 1st. The 21-year-old from Wiltshire will race the ex-Gregorio Lavilla Honda Fireblade against some of the world's best riders and will join seven other British riders contesting their home round. Bridewell's best result in this year's BSB championship is a fourth place at Cadwell Park in May. Bridewell is no stranger to World Championship action having raced as a wild card at Portimao in 2008 on a Suzuki GSX-R1000 K6 where he finished 25th overall. Tommy also raced in a handful of 2009 FIM Superstock 1000 Cup races for the Lorenzini by Leoni factory-supported Yamaha team with a best result of 13th at Valencia and has experience in the Suzuki GSX-R European Cup whereby he finished on the podium at Silverstone in 2006. Tommy Bridewell: "I'm absolutely delighted to be given the chance to race at my home round of the World Superbike Championship and can't wait to get going and to put on a good show. While we don't underestimate the level of competition, the old girl is still competitive and we have proven that already this season so it's our kind of stage and anything can happen. It's an additional drain on resources and the budget is tight for our BSB season so I'm planning on selling a couple of my toys to pay for it, which will be well worth it if I can put myself in the shop window by beating a few of the established stars and gaining a few points along the way." Arai launch `Try before you buy’
Source: Insidebikes | Carole Nash » New Products - Wednesday, 14th April 2010, 9:18 GMTAs with many premium products, trying before buying helps the consumer understand why spending the extra money is justified. Phoenix Distribution understands this and is presenting just such an opportunity with Arai, the UK’s premium helmet brand. From June 2010, initially operating up and down the country via 28 specially selected Arai Five Star dealers and featuring the class-leading race-bred Arai RX-7 GP and brand new Arai Quantum, the Ride Before You Buy programme allows potential Arai customers to spend time in the two top-of-the-range Arai helmets out in the real world, on the road, in a variety of situations. Prior to the ride customers will be properly sized and fitted by the dealer to ensure a correct and comfortable fit and the dealer’s individual discretion will be used for the levels of identity, security or deposit required. Utilizing many of the RX-7 GP’s race-developed design and safety features with added road-focussed civility the Quantum is the most accomplished all-round helmet available. Without exception all Arai helmets offer a peerless fit; the Japanese brand’s reputation for quality, comfort and safety has recently been further reinforced as, for the eleventh consecutive year, Arai came out top of the JD Power and Associates Motorcycle Helmet Satisfaction Study. Also, Arai placed three of its helmets in the overall top ten – including the number one spot – of RiDE Magazine’s 2009 RiDER Power Survey, an exhaustive poll taken from 5000 readers, reported in the November 2009 issue.
